En suites at Parc y gors!

January 26, 2012

Yes, we’ve bitten the bullet at last and installed 2 en suite bathrooms at Parc y gors – without, you’ll be as relieved as I am to hear, spoiling the charm and character of the old place. So those of you who fancy a bit of luxury after a day’s walking can now indulge yourselves to the full!

Puffins and Bluebells on Skomer

May 15, 2011

Last weekend Dragon Trails ventured a bit farther afield than usual and made it’s first ever trip to Skomer. Everyone was bowled over – not just by the wind, but by the rolling sea of bluebells which covered the cliffs. Hundreds of nesting black-backed gulls formed splashes of white amidst the blue and puffins appeared out of nowhere from their burrows under our feet. It was well worth the roller-coaster crossing and we’ll certainly be going back.

The Coracle is Launched!

November 9, 2010

After months of feverish expectation (and a lot of muddy pond clearance), the coracle has finally made it’s maiden voyage on Parc y gors pond. There is now an alternative to croquet as after-tea entertainment!

Dragon Fodder

The Dragon Trails cookbook has finally roared into life. Guaranteed to take the culinary world by storm, it contains a selection of Meli’s mouthwatering recipes, plus photos of walks, dragon cartoons and facetious introductions by the old dragon himself. As much a souvenir as a cookbook, it’s yours for the ludicrously cheap price of £6. (Mind you, unless you want to pay p&p, you’ll have to come to Cardigan to collect it!)

Dear Dragontrailers,

Welcome to our very first venture into the blogosphere! The idea is that we will be able to update you on what we’ve been up to, what our plans are and what availability we have in the near future. In return you can tell us (and your fellow Dragontrailers) what you’ve been up to, what your plans are and how soon you’re coming to see us again!

So start writing….!

Recent News

June 24, 2009

This year has seen a number of changes at Dragon Trails. Probably the biggest is the introduction of short (4-night) breaks based at our home in Garway on the Welsh borders. We ran two very enjoyable (for us anway!) holidays in March and April. Walks included the Black Mountains and the Wye and Monnow Valleys. Guests stay in 3 newly created ensuite rooms at the village inn, The Garway Moon, two minutes walk across the common from us. Breakfast and one supper is at the inn – tea and supper (& packed lunches) are with us. The rooms are all doubles or twins, so it pays to be either a couple or good friends! We plan to run more breaks from November through to April, but no dates have been decided as yet. We are pretty flexible, so if anyone fancies any particular dates, just let us know.

Mandy is taking a back seat with the cooking this year – although she is still at Parc-y-gors and willing to step in in an emergency. Thankfully there haven’t been any of those – largely due to the miraculous discovery of Mellie. Not that I had to look very far – she’s my neice. What I didn’nt know was what a good cook she was! After 5 months cooking for chalets in the Alps, she came straight to us in May and has cooked for all but 2 of the groups this Spring. Highlights (for me) include home-made white chocolate ice cream and chocolate and orange cake (you may detect a theme there..). Ask anyone who’s been this year and they’ll tell you more.
